Minnesota Twins place Byron Buxton on injured list 5:22 PM ET ESPN The Minnesota Twins on Tuesday placed All-Star outfielder Byron Buxton on the 10-day injured list with a low grade right hip strain. The oft-injured Buxton left Monday's 2-1 home loss to the Texas Rangers in the seventh inning with the injury. Manager Rocco Baldelli indicated postgame that Buxton could be due for more than a one-game absence, and that proved true Tuesday with the 28-year-old going on IL. Since making his major league debut in June 2015, Buxton only once has played 100 games in a year. He's battled a knee issue this season but still has managed to play 92 games, hitting .224 with 28 home runs and 51 RBIs for a Minnesota team that entered Tuesday two games behind the first-place Cleveland Guardians in the AL Central. In the corresponding roster move Tuesday, the Twins called up right-hander Aaron Sanchez from Triple A. The team also recalled catcher Caleb Hamilton and optioned lefty Devin Smeltzer.
